About NRC - Committee
Neralie Coulston - President

Fortunate to be born to horse-loving family living in the country, I began riding at age 4. Riding has been my constant passion, and remains so, many years and many horses later - but I am trying something new this year!
I have been a Northside member for 7 years, during which I have held the offices of Show-jumping Phase Head, Membership Secretary, Vice President, and now President. I really enjoy the time I spend, and the people I meet at NRC, and hope to see you at the Princess Anne Arena soon!!

Jock Mackillop - Vice President & Maintenance Manager
A local legend, Jock is often outshone by his progeny Steph and Riley who keep stealing his horses... or does he keep stealing theirs?
Soo Broster - Treasurer
I grew up in England where I remember spending hours at the local riding stables working in the hope I might score a bareback ride back to the paddocks a few miles away. My parents never bought me a pony … so I’m making up for it now – as of Jan 2010 my herd stands at 16!! [They all have a role or planned role in the scheme of things]
I am a current EA NCAS Level 1 General Coach and run a small equestrian and agistment centre in Duffys Forest [Ardis Equestrian Centre]. While I compete in dressage, show jumping and eventing my passion (which becomes stronger each year) is working with young and/or troubled horses. I have the utmost respect for all horses under my care and endeavour to provide for them as they need individually.
Several years ago I was persuaded to join the NRC committee and have since held the position of Treasurer, President … & Treasurer again. I look forward to seeing some of you out & about and iif I can be of help in any way in my role as Treasurer (or otherwise) please don’t hesitate to contact me. Happy riding!
Jan Pilz - Membership Secretary
Originally from New Zealand my days were spent sailing, in the 80's I moved to Australia, eventually married and had two children. We tried to convince Samantha that sailing was the future, however, she met Jill Severn and we all moved into the "horse phase" of our lives. I did take the plunge and learnt how to ride, not well, but managed to stay in the saddle (just). Before I could do permanent damage to myself (and the long suffering horses), Samantha needed her own horse, and it seemed like an ideal time to hang up my saddle.
My husband Rick is an active helper at events, master float navigator and generally laid back around horses (often spotted reading his newspaper in the back of the float). Our son Alex is rarely seen at horse events so Rick and I are often at different activities on weekends. We've met some great people over the years and it's great fun, so no regrets that we couldn't get Samantha sailing.

I think I might be the only Northside Committee member who does not actually own a horse; I lease ‘my’ bay mare, Annie, from my instructor, Jill Severn, and the arrangement is perfect for me.
I’ve been a member of Northside for many years, starting my eventing career in the days when NRC ran one day events. I started competing more regularly at Northside in 2002 with my previous leased horse, Moonbi, and from 2006 with Annie. Being a regular at the show jumping with time to spare after my class had finished, I volunteered to organise lunch for the show jumping competitions and I think that is where my interest in ‘getting involved’ started. Then before I knew it, Rachel and Neralie persuaded me that I could be the Show Jumping phase head!
Away from Northside, Annie and I love to go eventing and if I’m lucky, the events I want to go to fall on different weekends to the Northside show jumping.

As a kid I would ride whatever four legged shaggy beast that came my way, and generally fall off it into the soft landing of a cow pat.... not much has changed except there are less cow pats at Northside!
Having had a long spell from riding I took it up again a number of years ago under the fantastic guidance of Jill Severn, who still hasn't managed to shake me even though I now have my own horse and enjoy her and her teams company at most Northside events! I am the proud owner of Tuxedo, a lovely black warmblood who is a wonderful dressage horse and a reluctant jumping horse! You will see us pottering around the lower jump classes having a great time... mostly. I generally have my other 4 legged friend Pluto the Dalmatian on hand, and you might have seen Tux, Pluto and I wandering around Duffy's Forest together.
When I am not playing with my horse I am in my studio, as I am an artist, you can see my paintings on www.anwenkeeling.com.au. I look forward to a great year of eventing in 2010!!

With a dash of Viking blood I was born in Denmark and moved to the land of Oz as a 6 year old. My horsey career began at Palomino Riding School shortly afterwards until at 12 I had saved up $800 to buy my first horse, a gorgeous and very patient Quarter horse called Gemma! My new best friend and I started competing in Dressage and did the younger rider thing until Gemma was sadly diagnosed with navicular disease and retired. A few years and horses later I found myself suddenly in Germany as a 19 year old working student for Canadian born dressage rider Leonie Bramall. Although one of the toughest experiences of my life I spent 6 months there, followed by another 6 months in Denmark working for a sporthorse stud breaking and training their young horses.
A few years spent travelling and living around Europe I returned to Australia 18 months ago and much to the surprise of my non-horsey partner decided to jump back in the saddle and bought my beautiful big dumbblood Willy! You will probably see us out and about competing in everything from Dressage, SJ and I guess Eventing now too!
I returned to Germany mid last year to complete my instructor Level 1 qualification and so now divide my time between teaching dressage, a ‘proper’ job and more recently organising NRC events!

I will be helping with Dressage and running the Non-Competitive phase again at
NRC this year. I was born in Sydney and lived on the Beaches until I was 6, when my parents moved up North to a town just out of Byron Bay. This is when I got my first pony, joined pony club and became horse mad. After a couple of years off riding, I moved back to Sydney where I became horse mad all over again, and became involved with Northside.
I have a background in maths and computers. I work for a local software company, ummm… Making software!
After many crazy horses, I found my equine soul mate. His name is Max. He’s clydie/thoroughbred, and a familiar face around NRC. We try a bit of everything, but you’re most likely to find us out on the eventing circuit with the rest of the event mad Northside crew HAVING FUN.
I hope to see you all at the many upcoming events!
