Horsemanship
Clinics
We will schedule some horsemanship clinics in 2008. Below is a sample of what we did in 2007 in a clinic with Phillipa Richards.
Phillipa is a local instructor who specialises in developing softness and co-operation between horse and rider. She has a strong background in Dressage, spending time studying and riding in Europe before returning to Australia where she competed successfully to Intermediare One. Phillipa then purchased Fame, a talented young warmblood, who challenged everything she believed about horse training. She realised she needed to know how horses thought and this led her to Parelli. She became a Parelli Instructor, receiving a six month scholarship to the Parelli training school in America, where she toured with Pat Parelli. In the last few years Phillipa has worked on putting all that she has learnt through Parelli together with her passion of Dressage.
This clinic is targeted to riders and horses of any level and any
discipline. Each group will consist of 6 riders and will run for
3 hours. In this time riders will learn how to work their horses
online to develop softness,
co-operation and respect. When this partnership is established, the
clinic will focus on rider dynamics to enhance the softness and self
carriage of the horse under saddle.
Phillipa will be giving a demonstration with her warmblood, Fame, at lunchtime free of charge. All Northside members and friends are encouraged to attend.
