Official and unofficial classes

What is different about official classes?

Prize money for you and EFA grading points for your horse! Official classes must have a minimum of $100 total prize money and must be at least 1.05m in height. There must be a minimum of 10 starters.

If you win an official class your horse will gain 4 points, if you place 2nd your horse will gain 2 points, and if you place 3rd your horse will gain 1 point. Horses start off at D grade, and once they gain 16 points they move up to C grade. At 40 points they become B grade, and at 80 points they become A grade.

Since January 2007, riders or owners may elect to take one grading point if the horse jumps two clear rounds in a Table A competition (such as an AM7). If you would like to nominate for this optional grading point for jumping a double clear, you must notify the judge before you start your round!

You must be an EFA member to ride in official classes, and your horse must be EFA registered. Your horse will need a showjumping performance card from the EFA. Bring the card along with you on the day. You will need to write your membership number, and your horse’s registration number, on the entry form. Placings and points must be noted on the performance card and the card should be signed by the judge before the prize money is awarded.

Remember to enter early! The entries will be closed before a draw is completed and the draw will be displayed an hour before the commencement of the class. You ride in the order of the draw. The course plan will be displayed near the entrance of the course half an hour before the class, so you can have a good look at the layout of the course before it is open for walking.

If you are unsure about what do to, ask the showjumping phase heads or talk to the judge on the day.
